These tandoori rotis can be made in oven or traditional gas burners cook-top or even gas top with electric range cook-top. Make it whole some whole grain healthy roti at home.
If roasting on traditional gas burner then roast on pan slightly and directly place on fire flipping each side after 30 sec.
If roasting on electric range then after rosting on pan place cooling rack on electric burner and roast on it flipping after 1 min or so.
These roti taste best with any gravy dishes veg or nonveg. Enjoy
Time: 45 minutes(Resting Time- 30 minutes)
Serve: 8 Roti
Ingredient:
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 tsp sugar(optional)
1 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp oil or butter
1/2 cup warm water
salt to taste
Method:
1. In bowl, add all ingredient, mix well and knead to pliable dough. It has to be soft enough to roll out but not too soft to make it difficult to roll. Keep in mind that firm dough makes harder roties.
2. Wrap dough in a plastic film or wet kitchen towel and keep aside for at least 1 hour.
3. Make small balls, take one roll in desired shape on floured surface. Cover remaining balls with moist cloth or kitchen towel.
Using Oven:
1. Heat oven at highest temp for about 500F with a pizza stone (baking stone upside down) for 10-15 minutes. Now, turn oven to high broil.
2. Place rolled roti on pizza stone or upside down baking stone. Once the top looks cooked, very lightly golden with a few dark brown-black spots and patches after 1 minute or so, turn them over and cook the other side.
3. Take roti out of the oven and brush with clarified butter(or ghee).
4. Roll and place remaining roties and broil it.
5. Serve hot with any veg/non-veg gravy or curry dish.
Using traditional gas burner cook-top:
1. Heat a non stick pan on high heat, Once pan is hot, place roti and roast on pan each side until fully cooked and golden brown in color. Roti will fluff up.
2. Take out roti and brush with clarified butter(or ghee).
3. Repeat with remaining roties.

2. Place cooling rack on electric burner on high heat, and place roti directly on hot cooling rack. Let it roast and fluff up for few minutes on both side until fully cooked and golden brown in color.
3. Take out roti and brush with clarified butter(or ghee). Repeat with remaining roties.
4. Serve hot with any veg/non-veg gravy or curry dish.
Note:
1. All purpose flour or maida can be replaced by whole wheat flour.
2. You can make variation by adding grated onions or chopped fenugreek leaves, chopped spinach or grated garlic etc. to the dough.
