Instant Oats Idlis

These idlis are on my favorite list as they are quick, easy and yummy. You can make bulk of idli mixture before hand and when feel like eating just add yogurt, chilies and water. Hot steaming delicious idlis are on your plate. These are best eaten with tomato or coconut chutney.

Time: 10 mintues
Serve: 16 idlis


1 Cup instant oats
1/2 Cup wheat rava
1/2 Cup fat free yogurt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp green chilies(finely chopped)
2 tbsp coriander leaves(finely chopped)
1/2 Cup water or more

salt to taste

1. In pan, dry roast instant oats and keep aside. Also dry roast wheat rava. Allow them to cool completelyGrind roasted instant oat coarsely. 

2. In deep bowl, add ground instant oats, wheat rava, baking soda(sifted). Mix well.(see notes 1)

3. Add green chilies, chopped coriander leaves, salt, fat free yogurt and water. Mix well. Add water if required till desired consistancy of idli batter(see notes 2).

4. Grease idli moulds and pour the batter into the moulds and steam them for 15 minutes until done.

5. Serve hot with chutney of your choice.

1. This oats rava mixture can stored in an airtight container and use whenever required. Semolina(white rava) can be used instead of whole wheat rava.

2. This batter is bit thick that rice idli batter.
